Training and Equipment Standards
BPC RESCUE uses a combination of lectures, PowerPoint presentations and actual incident videos during it's classroom sessions. This combined with discussion on incident command, standard operating guidelines, rescuer safety, effects of hypothermia on victim and rescuer, cold water near drowning and ice conditions will round out the inside portion of our class. The outdoor practical session will consist of several stations & scenarios allowing each student hands on experiance with self rescue, shore based rescue, go contact rescues as well as the chance to use popular ice rescue devices presently available. We strive to have a six student to one instructor ratio. This insures that each student will receive individual attention during practical sessions.
BPC RESCUE Courses follow NFPA Standards wherever applicable.
The following standards apply to Ice & Water Rescue.
NFPA 1983 – 2006 Establishes equipment safety factors.
NFPA 1006 Establishes Proffesional Qualifications.
NFPA 1670 Establishes Operations & Training Rquirements.
